When one suffers
His mind is in distress.
It is so because of emotions.

But the wise
Will be aware of all sufferings,
Confront sufferings, mindfully watching them
With calm repose.
They do not cling, even to happiness,
Welcoming both joy and distress.

A tree welcomes all seasons:
Summer, rainy season and winter.
It never complains.
If it cannot withstand the harsh conditions,
It will shed its leaves
To bud again in the rainy season.

It welcomes all coming seasons,
Grows up due to conditions,
Buds, branches, flowers and fruits.
Often it enjoys the bright sunlight
And spreads its shadow and coolness
To people who pass by.
The tree, itself withstands the heat,
While extending coolness to the world.

Happiness and suffering,
are like the seasons of life.
Accept them, and welcome them,
as they are parts of our lives.
